Our specialists have not only been formally educated to repair and maintain home heating and air conditioning systems but stay updated on the latest trade technologies. Dave Knight
Owner/Sales Manager/Marketing Director

 

Dave started his career at a young age; working in his father’s heating and cooling company.  After college he became co-owner of his family’s business, and with his current partners (Mike & Matt Bergstrom), purchased Thornton & Grooms back in 2004.

Dave gives credit to his parents and the great coaches he was exposed to in high school and college for his excellent foundation and belief system, based on hard work and teamwork.  “My most important job is to reinforce our mission statement:  ‘Our mission is to create life-long relationships and raving fans’ and our core values through setting an example and by recognizing employees for the actions they take that replicate these values.”

Dave is married with three kids and is a life-long resident of Michigan.  He’s a graduate of Riverview High School and the University of Michigan, and currently holds a board member position with the University of Michigan Letterwiinners.  Dave is also a member of the St. Kenneth Catholic Church.  In his free time, he enjoys running, golf, home improvement, and making his famous “Knighter Nice Salsa” and “Knighters Wills Dills”!

 

 

 

Bill Burton
Comfort Consultant

 

Bill, a Comfort Consultant at Thornton & Grooms, started his career in the construction industry working mainly with commercial fire alarm systems and building controls.  With a sales career spanning over 20 years, he recognizes that one size does not fit all.  Bill feels that “if you truly listen to the customer and their needs, you can offer something that makes sense to them, and not just what I think is right for them.”

A lifetime Michigander, Bill is married and has three kids.  He is a graduate of Clarkston High School and William Tyndale College.  Bill is also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a volunteer at the local Columbiere Center.  In his free time Bill loves skiing, both water and snow!

 

 

 

Bob Burris
Comfort Consultant

 

Bob has been in the HVAC industry for over 15 years, holding positions in maintenance, residential and commercial service technician, service manager, trainer and presently, comfort consultant.  He also has over 25 years of customer service experience in various industries.  In addition, he has been a college level educator in heating, cooling and geothermal technologies for over 10 years.

Bob has EPA Certification 608 & 609, is N.A.T.E. Certified, R.S.E.S. as well as many other credentials.

Following the Thornton & Grooms code of ethics; setting a good example for others, respecting the customer’s time and property, and having a positive attitude are all values Bob brings to his job.  “I also have my own personal code of ethics that I bring to the job including honesty, genuine care and respect for others, and helping people build value,” says Bob.

Bob is also an Adjunct instructor at Henry Ford Community College in technology, Energy Technology and computers.  He is also on the Henry Ford Community College Energy Technology Advisory Committee, and an EPA Refrigerant Recovery Test Proctor.  In his spare time, this native born Michigander, enjoys the outdoors.

 

 

 

Corey Martynuik
Comfort Consultant

 

Corey has been with Thornton & Grooms since 2007.  He started as an Installation apprentice and worked up to a certified N.A.T.E. (North American Technician Excellence in Cooling, Heating & Refrigeration) HVAC technician.   For the past year he’s served in the role of a sales consultant.

Corey loves helping people and sees his job at Thornton & Grooms as a way of doing just that; he listens to homeowners’ problems with their homes and comes up with real solutions.  According to Corey, “It’s all about building long term relationships and caring about what the customer wants.”

Corey graduated from Kimball High School in Royal Oak and attended Oakland Community College.  He is married and in his spare time enjoys doing carpentry around his home, going on walks with his wife and dog, and traveling, camping and boating in Michigan.  He’s also an avid music lover and enjoys playing the piano.

 

 

 

John Mead
Master Plumber

 

John has been a plumber for twenty-five years, holding a master license for the past twenty years and spending most of his career focused on residential services. “After all this time I may not have seen it all, but I’ve seen most of it!” says John. His special interests include solar water heating and boiler systems and when not working you can find John tinkering with his own solar water heating and boiler systems.
 
John has worked for Thornton & Grooms for the past seven years and says he has never been happier. “We provide the customer service that I have always dreamed of, my motto: ‘If you are happy, then I’ve done my job.’ “
 
John is married to the lovely Marry Anne and has two daughters, Emily and Katy.
Emily is studying hard at Hope College and Katy is working her way through Salem High School. In his free time, John enjoys his vegetable garden, fast pitch softball, and cheering on the Tigers.
 

 

 

Jim Murt
Camera Tech

 

Jim has been in the service industry all of his life, starting when he was a young boy delivering papers at 12 years old.  He has filled a variety of roles in the industry including, plumber, supervisor, manager, estimator and sales.  He is also on the advisory board for Ridgid Connect Tool Company and part of the Tri-County Inspectors Assoc.

 
Jim’s philosophy is to “service the customer above all else.”  He believes to provide a truly quality service is a reflection of what he wants and expects.  If he can’t provide it how can he expect it of others?  He believes in leading by example, paying attention to details, listening to customers and then delivering what they ask for.
 
Jim is married and has two daughters.  He is a lifelong resident of Michigan and graduated from Allen Park High School.  He is a member of the Waterford Presbyterian Church and enjoys baseball, football and boating in his spare time.
 

 

 

Jeff Single
Warehouse Manager

 

Jeff started his career driving a truck, which he did for 14 years.  Needing a change from the long hours he found an ad for a heating & cooling company and got a job in the warehouse delivering new construction materials.  He worked deliveries for a year, spent another year working out in the field, and returned to working in the warehouse, where he’s been ever since.

Jeff has been married for 14 years to his wife Fran.  They have a cat, Holly and a dog, Bailey, both rescue animals.  Jeff and his wife enjoy going up North “to get away” in their free time.  He also enjoys fishing, nature walks, taking pictures, wood working and anything that enables him to be outside.  Jeff likes relaxing in the sun on his boat in the summer and in the winter his passion is for Christmas decorating!
 
 

 

 

Jacqueline Dailey
Customer Service

 

Jacqueline, a native of Michigan, graduated from Cros –Lex High School in Croswell, MI (the “thumb” area) and completed her education with a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  She started her career as the only employee at a plumbing company and as the company grew in size (to over 25 trucks), so did the scope of her job, from answering phone calls to company Controller. 

Now handling Customer Service for Thornton & Grooms, Jacqueline feels the most important parts of her job are to “love what she does,” “service the customer above all else,” and “always exhibit professionalism with humility and confidence.”

Jacqueline has two children and in her spare time loves to be outside gardening, horseback riding, canoeing, or playing volleyball and softball – or any sport when it’s warm outside!
