Allergy season is here. Four steps to increase the air quality in your home.

Apr. 30, 2018
From grass and tree pollen, to mold and dust, allergy sufferers are impacted not only by the quality of the air outdoors, but also by the air indoors. Think about it, a typical person spends 90% of their time indoors. Follow these steps to increase the quality of the air in your home.

1. Don’t open windows and doors
Resist the desire to open windows and doors. Although that fresh air feels nice, homeowners are welcoming allergens into their home.

2. A thorough spring-cleaning
Spring is the time to rid dust from your home. Start from top to bottom so any dust that falls when cleaning higher areas can fall down to be either dusted or vacuumed.

3. Replace your filters
The filter in your HVAC system should be changed regularly to help keep your home dust-free. This higher the MERV rating the smaller the particles it can filter – a MERV rating of at least 10 is recommended.

4. Consider a whole-home air filtration system
A whole-home air filtration system, like the Lennox PureAirTM Air Purification System, treats the air that circulates throughout your entire home. It is capable of removing airborne particles, germs, bacteria, and chemical odors and vapors. A whole-home filtration system should be installed by a certified HVAC technician.
