Farmington Hills, MI, (October 16, 2012)–Thornton & Grooms, a top local heating and cooling company, was named by local celebrity handyman Glenn Haege as one of the most experienced and reputable contractors in a recent blog post. Mr. Haege has more than 30 years in the home improvement industry and hosts the popular radio program, Handyman Show, which is broadcast on more than 130 stations nationwide.
“It’s such a thrill to have someone with so much expertise and experience recognize our work as being the best of the best,” said Mike Bergstrom, Thornton & Grooms owner and HVAC operations manager.
Glenn’s blog post, “Focus on Furnace as Weather Gets Colder,” focuses on a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) rule that requires all furnaces installed in the northern region be 90 percent or higher Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) after May 1, 2013. The post recommends that homeowners with smaller homes who may need a furnace in the next few years purchase an 80 percent AFUE furnace this winter before the ruling takes effect. The higher AFUE-rated furnaces required under the new law will cost several hundred dollars more than the lower-rated furnaces and may have costly installation issues.
Haege, along with suggesting the purchase of a new furnace, cautions homeowners to use an experienced, reputable contractor to perform the installation. Only a few top contractors are named, among them Thornton and Grooms.
